Le parfumeur :
a gin by Hervé Gambs

Reimmerse yourself in the history of French Haute Perfumery and the creative frenzy of the Roaring Twenties. During this period, Piguet and Poiret revolutionized French perfumery by coming from the world of fashion and offering innovative fragrances. In fact, at the 1914 World Exhibition in Lyon, clothing and perfumery were united in the same pavilion. Paul Poiret understood the importance of blending, design, and packaging; he created three workshops (Les Parfums de Rosine for the perfume, Les Ateliers de Martine for design and decoration, and Les Ateliers de Colin for packaging) to fully master the production of his perfumes.

Far from the codified world of contemporary perfumery, Hervé Gambs’ journey is similar to that of Piguet and Poiret. Initially a designer of vegetal arrangements, he later discovered the world of perfumery. He revisits the tradition of French Haute Perfumery in a precise and instinctive manner. This exceptional creator crafts each fragrance as a journey to the heart of the plants he selects for their uniqueness, uncovering their rough edges and the unsuspected subtleties that characterize and enhance their beauty.

For this gin, Hervé Gambs has created a bottle inspired by the codes of the Roaring Twenties and Art Nouveau, paying homage to traditional “Eaux de Cologne.” The label incorporates elements of vintage perfumes and high fashion expression with embossing and hot stamping.

A word from the designer

«I invite you to a sensory journey at the heart of raw and sophisticated of plants. Created like a perfume, LE PARFUMEUR gin reveals the primary notes of juniper berries and mandarin zest that bring intense freshness, then quickly unveils heart notes of bitter almond and ginger root bringing a subtle bitterness and a spicy sensation. To finish, with sensual and enchanting base notes of Centifolia rose, cocoa bean, and cinnamon bark. »

Distillation

For this gin, Hervé Gambs selected a limited number of botanicals to allow each one to express itself. His unique olfactory signature is reflected in the creation of this gin.

Each botanical is distilled independently to maintain the intensity of each ingredient.

LE PARFUMEUR gin is distilled in small batches, using a water bath in Charentais alembics at the Distillerie des Terres Rouges. This slow, low-temperature distillation preserves the delicacy of the aromatics.

The blending of the distillates is done with wine origin alcohol resulting from the distillation of wine lees. Wine origin alcohol adds an additional nobility through its roundness.

Our gin is made with 100% natural ingredients.

discover a classic:
the gin & tonic

The Gin & Tonic, often seen simply as a refreshment, actually holds a rich history that spans continents and centuries. Let’s explore together the origin and evolution of this iconic cocktail.

Colonial Origins: The Gin & Tonic originated within the British Empire. Tonic, a beverage containing quinine, was used by the British in India to prevent malaria. Quinine, extracted from the bark of the cinchona tree, was bitter, and to make the potion more palatable, gin was added, giving birth to the Gin & Tonic.

Popularization and Evolution: Over time, what began as a medicinal necessity became a popular cocktail choice. During the Victorian era, the Gin & Tonic became a symbol of British elegance, and its popularity extended beyond the borders of India and Britain.

Today, the Gin & Tonic is celebrated worldwide for its distinctive taste and simplicity. It embodies a blend of tradition and modernity, and continues to be a favorite among cocktail enthusiasts.

The classic ratio is 1 part gin to 3 parts tonic. However, these proportions can vary according to your personal preferences.

We recommend enjoying our French gin with a classic tonic featuring fine and light bubbles.
